A Taste of Art 2003

2003 marked FCA’s 15th annual “A Taste of Art” fundraising event. Despite the original concerns, all the hard, long hours and the anxiety that always comes with this time of year, we pulled it off again. We raised $76,500 and the event was, once again, a sell-out.

The many volunteers who gave time, energy and expertise and without whose help we could not have made it happen, were fantastic. Some of these are the unsung heroes of this event; those individuals who choreographed the planning phase, those who spent numerous and sometimes arduous hours upon hours paving the way in order that those who followed could have an easier road to travel. Those who managed the database, those who lined up the procurement packets and those who were involved in the procurement phase, acquiring the items for the auction or the promise of cash to help offset the cost of the event. To you ALL, a heartfelt thank you, once again.

Also, again, many, many, thanks to all who donated time, money and items; those who purchased corporate tables, those who purchased items – all participants in all phases – you are the ones that made “A Taste of Art” another success.

A special thanks to Carol Mattison, one of the unsung heroes behind the scenes; to Karen Lidster, who provided and arranged the decorations that were in keeping with our theme and made the Gold Room bright and festive with a touch of the Alaska wild; to Karen Binkley for her gathering of friends and family to lend a hand in the procurement of auction items and help with the set-up of the event; to Skip and Karen Binkley for so graciously co-hosting the event; to Bill Stevens for making the strings of his violin sing for our guests, to Jim Matherly for his fantastic, as always, job at being the truly masterful Master of Ceremonies; to Joe Campbell who conducted the oral auction, and, of course, to Jim Orvik, our 2003 featured artist.
