friends and family.
TEEN BUZZ
Teen Buzz is an evidence-based, cognitive behavioral group intervention that targets specific problems typically experienced by depressed adolescents. These problems include discomfort and anxiety, irritation and negative thoughts, poor social skills and an overall lack of healthy, pleasant activities.
The group constists of 2-hour sessions conducted over a 9-week period for mixed gender groups of adolescents. Each participant receives a workbook that provides structured learning tasks, short quizzes and homework forms. To encourage generalization of skills to everyday situations, adolescents are given homework assignments that are reviewed at the beginning of the subsequent session.
RESPONSIBLE FATHERS
FCA's Responsible Father's Program targets male teens incarcerated in Fairbanks Youth Facility, specifically teen fathers who have minimal involvement with their child, fathers seeking to improve the quality of their time with their child, and teens that are at high risk of becoming fathers.
The purpose of the program is to build, enhance and strengthen high-risk families by increasing parenting skills and knowledge, parent/child interactions and parental self-esteem and confidence. Weekly group sessions combine parenting information and skills with socialization/peer interaction activities designed to help teens develop the self-confidence, self-esteem and basic socialization skills necessary to establish safe boundaries and environments for themselves and their children.
Fall and spring groups are offered for youth incarcerated in Fairbanks Youth Facility.
